When choosing your first paddle board, the vast number and types of boards can be daunting. At SUPS LIFE we can help you with those decisions – either through talking to us where we can offer you advice based on our years of experience or, if you ever find yourself in the Norfolk and East Anglia area, you can try some of our boards at our demo days.
The sport of paddle boarding is so diverse and offers not just exercise but delivers great experiences you can can share with family and friends. Here at SUPS LIFE we like to paddle around the tidal creeks and salt marshes along the North Norfolk coast with friends, maybe stopping off for a beach BBQ along the way! Whatever your choice of paddle board, we’re here to help you make the most of it.
One of the brands we stock, Starboard, have written an excellent guide to buying your first paddle board and list 10 questions that you should answer before making that investment:
-
Who is Paddling the Board?
-
What is the rider’s weight and height?
-
What is the rider’s ability level?
-
What are you using it for?
-
Where will you use it?
-
What about storage and transport?
-
How strong are you?
-
How much do you have or want to invest?
-
Have you got your paddle, leash & PFD?
-
Last but not least…do you care for the ocean?
We know that a SUP is an investment and at SUPS LIFE we want you to be confident when making a purchase. We will guide you through these type of questions and any answer any queries you have before you make your purchase.
If you don’t feel quite ready to purchase your own SUP, we are also partnered with some SUP rental and lesson companies around the Norfolk coast for all levels of ability. We recommend taking the opportunity to learn good paddle technique and manoeuvring skills so you don’t quickly outgrow your first paddle board.
